Holy Car Insurance - My Other Ride`s a Batmobile! The Dark Knight is Uninsured, Says Confusedcom

Released on: August 22, 2008, 4:40 am

Press Release Author: Confused.com

Industry: Financial

Press Release Summary: Batman gets pretty angry when people break the law, so
imagine the guilt he feels every time he ventures out in his Batmobile knowing full
well that it's uninsured.

Press Release Body: Billionaire Bruce Wayne could no doubt afford any car insurance
premium for his trusty Batmobile, but as we all know, the rich get rich by never
paying over the odds - so the savvy Mr Wayne would no doubt turn to a car insurance
comparison site.

When applying for car insurance it's unlikely that he would actually find
'Batmobile' in the 'choose make of car' dropdown, nor could he enter a Gotham City
postcode - but car insurance aggregators
Confused.com took up the challenge:

Bat Quote Details

The real Batmobile is powered by a 5.7 litre V8 lump of Detroit's finest, and the
most common car in the UK to be powered by one of those is a Chrysler 300c - so
quotes were based on that before pimping it up in the 'any modifications?' section
to make it a bit more Batmobile-ish.

Modifications

. Body kit (non standard of course)
. Exterior decorative changes (er, yes)
. Interior changes
. Tinted windows > 30%
. Roll cage/Roll bars
. Supercharger (for outrunning cops/catching crooks)

Note: unfortunately there were no modification tick boxes for 'machine guns',
'rocket launchers' or 'armour plating'. If there were, Confused.com would have
ticked them.

For Batman's home address, Mentmore Towers in Buckinghamshire was entered as this
was the actual shooting location for Wayne Manor in the latest Batman movies.

Batman actor Christian Bale's date of birth was used, the car was classed as
'garaged' (well, the Batcave's a sort of garage!) and it was rated very highly for
in-car security. Furthermore, Bruce Wayne's job was given as 'Chairman' (he's the
boss of Wayne Industries), and he was cheekily given five years' No Claims Bonus as
Batman never hangs around after a fender bender to exchange insurance details or
wait for the police.

So, in the spirit of fun, here's Batman's cheapest fully-comp Batmobile car
insurance quote:
Cheapest Quote Returned

ASDA Car Insurance - £1333.01*

Batman would doubtless be flapping his cape in joy and doing a merry rooftop dance
at the above car insurance price.

*Quote retrieved August 2008. Quoted for: excess £500; no offences or accidents in
last 5 years; 5 years NCB. Data provided by Confused.com.
